The Dermatology Department has a vacancy for a part-time experienced Medical Secretary to work as part of the Dermatology team at Watford General Hospital.
Experienced and committed, you will provide an efficient and comprehensive secretarial service to the Consultants and multi-disciplinary team.
The successful applicant will need to have a good general level of education with formal secretarial qualifications or experience of working as a Medical Secretary and possess the essential qualifications outlined in the attached Person Specification.

To act as personal secretary to one or more of the Dermatology Consultants, liaising on a day to day basis and prioritising own work load.
Typing of clinic letters, using Cerner database, discharge summaries and admin letters from tapes or dictation or written copy as required.
Pathology and blood results should be actioned and filed appropriately daily, making sure urgent results are shown to Consultant as soon as possible, where this is not possible, this will need to be escalated to the Office Manager.
Ensure that laboratory results, X-rays, letters and other records are filed accurately.
To keep Consultant’s diary and arrange meetings when required.
To deal sympathetically and confidentially, via telephone enquiries or face to face, with patients, GPs, medical staff, nursing staff and hospital departments etc. Queries can occasionally be distressing / emotional circumstances.
