Pay: £40 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week (08:30 - 17:00)

Job Description: The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Lawyer to support their legal team on a temporary assignment. This 12-week role will be based in a hybrid capacity, with a mix of remote working and in-person attendance at meetings and committee sessions. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of governance and legal tasks, including:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Reviewing and advising on the Combined Authority's constitution.
2. Collaborating with the Finance Department to develop a scheme of delegation.
3. Supporting the Independent Remuneration Panel with their review of certain roles' remuneration.
4. Assisting the Finance Department with the Annual Governance Statement and monitoring actions as part of the ongoing process.
Experience Required:
1. Public sector/local authority legal experience.
2. Governance experience, including reviewing constitutions and developing schemes of delegation.
3. Ability to work with colleagues across departments to support governance and legal processes.
The role involves sensitive policing work, so candidates will need to complete police vetting upon starting.
