Are you a compassionate and dedicated professional with a passion for supporting young people? We are seeking an experienced Senior Support Worker to join our client's team at their Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) Children's Residential Home in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children while working in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Salary: £33,300 - £36,400 per annum (inclusive of sleep-in shifts)
Location: Birmingham
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
About the Role:
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care and support to children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will work closely with the management team to ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted standards, promoting a safe, nurturing, and positive environment. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the day-to-day care and development of children aged 8-18 with EBD.
2. Leading shifts, supervising and mentoring junior staff, and ensuring a consistent approach to care.
3. Contributing to care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
4. Building trusting relationships with young people to support their emotional and social growth.
5. Completing accurate records and reports in line with regulatory requirements.
6. Participating in sleep-in shifts as part of the rota (additional payment included).
Requirements:
1. Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience working with children in a residential care setting, ideally with EBD.
2. Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.
3. Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
4. Knowledge: A good understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures, and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
5. Eligibility: Must be over 21 years of age (Ofsted requirement for senior roles in children's homes).
6. Background Checks: Enhanced DBS check required (we will support you through this process).
7. Flexibility: Ability to work a shift pattern, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
