For this role you will need the following;
* To be an experienced estimator working on residential and commercial projects with knowledge of building regulations, building standards, and requirements
* Must be happy and comfortable liaising with clients and working closely with the finance team
* Be happy working with the way the business likes to estimate jobs
* Strong understanding of construction materials, methods and industry standards
* You absolutely must love living in a remote part of Scotland, in the Highlands and have a keen sense of adventure
* Willing to travel elsewhere in the Highlands and Islands because your projects are scattered across a wide geographical area
* Be happy working in a small family business (they're really nice people who keep their staff)
* The ability to take responsibility and accountability for your decisions and your actions
* To be interested in project management, even if you've not done it before
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Excellent analytical skills with great attention to detail
* You’ll preferably need at least three years of quality experience as an estimator and some project management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and prepare accurate cost estimates for submission including all labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
* Complete Bill of Quantities and carry out take-offs from project plans and specifications, to assess project scope and requirements.
* Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to clarify project specifications.
* Develop project schedules, budgets, and work plans to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
* Manage contracts, procurement, and supplier relationships.
* Oversee on-site project activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project timelines.
* Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to address challenges and resolve issues.
* Monitor and report project progress, including budget variances and schedule deviations.
* Ensure effective communication between all project stakeholders, including clients, team members, and regulatory authorities.
* Make regular site visits as needed.
