The Office of Data & Analytics' mission is to deliver insight through innovation in our data and analytics services. The key function is to provide reporting and analytics to support patient care, quality, performance, financial flows, and service development.
To underpin these objectives, the Business Intelligence Lead will drive, support, and prioritise the analysis, reporting, and business intelligence needs of our stakeholders. We will need our Business Intelligence Lead to work closely and provide leadership to our BI Team whilst supporting the services where focus is required.
It is essential that the Business Intelligence Lead has previous experience within an NHS Informatics Department as an Analyst. You must be able to bring strong analytical and requirement gathering skills in addition to being an adaptable and effective communicator.

Main duties of the job
The Business Intelligence Lead is tasked with the Operational Management of our BI function and the required outputs.
The Business Intelligence Lead will be required to work integrally across our teams, including technical, our stakeholders, and other senior managers across the organisation to ensure delivery of all elements of an innovative Business Intelligence Service.
The post holder will provide leadership, support, and guidance to Analysts in Business Intelligence who are responsible for a wide range of data outputs to support data-driven decision making across the organisation. The post holder will liaise with our stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure we provide meaningful data and analysis.
Job responsibilities
* Deputise for the Senior ODA Delivery Manager as required.
* Deliver the agreed work programme of the Business Intelligence Team, in relation to service information including the development, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of all relevant returns and all national and local data flows.
* Support other BI Leads with services supported by the Office of Data and Analytics within the scope of Business Intelligence.
* Lead on the timely submission of returns and Secondary Uses Service (SUS) data flows; ensuring a high standard of data quality is maintained.
* Have expert knowledge of NHS information standards and systems, including NHS Data Dictionary, Secondary User Service guidance, and Patient Administration Systems.
* Allocate data analysis and reporting tasks to members of the Business Intelligence Team. Ensure routine work, information requests, and products of the Office of Data and Analytics are prioritised and allocated accordingly.
* Attend regular meetings with Divisional and Operational Services to determine information requirements and design specifications to meet those requirements whilst balancing the direction and strategic goals of the Office of Data and Analytics.
* Gather and analyse business requirements and translate business needs into technical development specifications.
* Support members of the Business Intelligence Team in all aspects of the production of analysis and information ensuring accurate and timely reports.
* Encourage effective team working and promote a reflective and learning culture where improvement is constant.
* Directly line-manage staff as necessary and undertake all aspects of recruitment, performance review, and management including disciplinary and grievance procedures.
* Monitor processes to ensure information quality in accordance with NHS Standards and Definitions by checking that data has been recorded to the above standards.
* Forge strong working relationships with members of the wider Office of Data and Analytics and communicate effectively with staff at all levels within the Trust and external stakeholders.
* Have advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills to assimilate and relay highly complex, and often sensitive and contentious information to senior managers and clinical colleagues.

* Knowledge of NHS information standards and guidance.
* Understanding of Data Protection and Caldicott Security and Confidentiality, Data Protection Act.
* Awareness and understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

* Experience in the use of SQL to process, arrange and manipulate data.
* Experience of working closely with clinical staff.
* Experience of working both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
