Job Overview
The post holders will possess the knowledge and skills to work independently with a range of medical devices, including complex and non-complex electrical medical equipment. Responsibilities include service checks, PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance), safety checks, calibration of equipment such as infusion devices, cardiac monitors, temperature measuring devices, observation devices, and medical gas appliances like flowmeters, regulators, and suction units.
They will differentiate between technical and clinical problems, handling issues within their scope and referring more complex problems to qualified colleagues.
Main Duties
1. Plan and organize calibration of department test equipment used on medical devices and gas appliances.
2. Perform duties in both workshop and clinical environments, including hospital wards, theatres, and critical care areas.
3. Service, repair, and train end users in medical gas, suction equipment, and electro-medical devices.
4. Work primarily at Morriston Hospital, with flexibility to work across the Health Board.

Responsibilities & Expectations
1. Organize and carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance on medical and gas equipment.
2. Service and repair complex medical equipment like defibrillators, monitoring equipment, endoscopic devices, and infusion pumps.
3. Manage stock orders related to medical equipment.
4. Advise management on upgrades and replacements of medical gas and electrical equipment.
5. Maintain accurate records for servicing, repairs, calibration, and disposal of equipment.
6. Support clinical staff and patients with issues related to medical gases and medical devices.
7. Adhere to health and safety policies and contribute to the department’s quality system.
8. Participate in training, conferences, and mandatory courses.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree, HND/HNC
* Welsh speaker (preferred)
Experience
* Repair, testing, or calibration of medical devices
Knowledge
* Valid UK driving license
* Experience with databases and quality systems
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar standards
