Your Role
As the new Head of Building Control, you'll lead a team of building inspectors tackling diverse projects from historic buildings to modern developments. You'll manage service budgets and strategies, enhancing efficiency and innovation by possessing excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will bring managerial experience to be able to grow a competent high performing team who adhere to council policies, supported by continual professional development and mentoring.
About You
We are looking for a BSR registered Minimum Class 3 Building Inspector who will bring extensive experience in Building Control, with a proven track record of leadership of a Building Control team either in public or private sector. You will possess strong technical knowledge of building regulations, fire safety, and emerging construction technologies.
We're seeking someone with excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of working effectively with elected members, developers, and residents, who thrive working in a fast-paced environment and has a deep commitment to public service and safety. You should have a strategic problem-solving mindset, driving service improvements and financial sustainability.
A full UK driving license is necessary for traveling to different locations within the borough of Stockport. Possess the IT skills necessary to deal with the electronic processing of plans, capture of site reports and documents to bespoke systems and email communication with our stakeholders.
