West of Peebles, Scottish Borders:
An exciting opportunity for an individual or couple to lead the continuing transition of this [400]Ha upland farm into a low input, grass-based operation running 900 predominantly Romney Ewes with a growing herd of 90 mainly Angus suckler cows. Considerable and ongoing investment in stock improvement and farm infrastructure is already underway, including a venture into native Angus cattle with a pedigree and embryo program working with ranches in America and Canada.
Working as part of a 3-person team, you will have primary responsibility for the success of this unit.
Warm and recently renovated 3 Bed on-farm accommodation is provided.
Expanding opportunities and a growing prospect of a bonus based on performance KPI (after a probationary period) are available.
This progressive role will allow you to collaborate with the Farm Manager and provide input and assistance to ensure the overall plan of farming operations is carried out efficiently.
To succeed in this role, you will be a positive, organised, and self-motivated individual, who will:
1. Be an experienced stock person with an excellent eye for stock health across a variety of stock classes, along with pasture management.
2. Maintain accurate stock records and tallies.
3. Have an understanding of regenerative farming or a willingness to learn.
4. Possess good dogs capable of undertaking role duties.
5. Exhibit great farming skills such as electric fencing and water reticulation.
6. Hold a current, full driver's license.
7. Demonstrate excellent communication skills within the team, with the ability to work autonomously and show initiative.
