Job Description We are looking to hire a Commercial Manager in the UK who will be working within the commercial function to manage a small team in our Bury office, whilst actively participating in the day-to-day operations of the department. Key Accountabilities: Ensuring that the Company commercial processes are being adhered to. Negotiating contracts with customers and the supply chain, ensuring that risks are identified and appropriately managed. Ensuring that projects are effectively managed from a commercial perspective. Managing a small team of direct reports, but with active participation in the day-to-day operations of the team. Accountable for reporting on the profitability or any issues with projects, with the expectation that Provide commercial and contractual guidance and advice to junior members of staff across all disciplines. An overview of the status of all contracts with a more detailed understanding of contracts that are not performing in line with expectations. Providing advice during the tender process to ensure that our tenders are submitted at the lowest economically viable price, risks are identified and managed and unreasonable or onerous terms and conditions are excluded. Essential Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications: Minimum of 10 years industry experience working in the construction industry. Ability to demonstrate strong team, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Experience in tendering for works and negotiating terms and conditions. Demonstrable cost management experience, driving efficiency and reducing costs. Detailed knowledge of NEC, JCT and Network Rail forms of agreement. A great team player and enthusiasm for working in a cross functional team. Ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders. Analytical thinking and ability to turn complex information into clear opportunities and decisions. Capable of providing commercial and contractual guidance and advice to junior members of staff across all disciplines. Ability to lead teams and deliver excellent results whilst being prepared to get into the detail and deliver the work alongside the team. Problem solving under pressure and working at pace. Desirable Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications: Experience working with a Tier 1 Main Contractor in the construction industry.
