My client based in oxford is looking for either a Sys Admin or DBA that can look after their Linux/Unix/Solaris estate. We need automated builds and a monitoring solution that is better than on or off and the backup solution needs a complete overhaul.
Skills required:
Shell Scripting: Proficiency in writing scripts using Bash, KornShell (ksh), or other Shell languages to automate tasks.
1. Configuration Management Tools: Experience with tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate server configuration and management.
2. Version Control Systems: Knowledge of Git or other version control systems to manage code and configuration files.
3. Linux Administration: Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, including distributions like Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
4. Unix Administration: Proficiency in managing Unix systems, including AIX and HPUX.
5. Solaris Administration: Expertise in managing Solaris environments, including zones, ZFS, and SMF (Service Management Facility).
6. Monitoring deployment and administration: Expertise in deploying and configuring monitoring solutions in a Linux/Unix/Solaris environment.
7. Capacity Planning: Experience of capacity planning and rightsizing of solutions.
8. Backup planning and administration: Experience of backup solutions and configuring backup sets, trial restores and disaster recovery.
9. Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with people at all levels.
