University Hospital Southampton (UHS) Maternity Services are seeking an Internationally trained, qualified midwife who is enthusiastic and committed to working in collaboration with women and birthing people, their families, and multi-disciplinary teams, supporting personalised choice and promoting exemplary care in line with national transformation ambitions and local Trust Values.
We are proud of our innovative and supportive preceptorship programme that we have adapted to specifically support midwives who have trained Internationally, which provides a bridge to the difference in clinical experiences that candidates may have had. We have confidence that this will provide excellent support to candidates as they transition from B5 to B6 midwives.

We are a fast-paced progressive service with just under 5000 births every year and proudly received the rating of ‘Good’ from the CQC in May 2023. We are also a regional centre for fetal and maternal medicine providing specialist care for women with medical problems during pregnancy, and for those whose baby’s need extra care before or around birth in our level 3 neonatal unit.

The Maternity Services provides newly qualifying midwives with an excellent, comprehensive induction and bespoke preceptorship package. You will be working in a supportive and kind environment with your wellbeing and professional development placed at the very centre of your midwifery career.
Our preceptorship programme offers you the opportunity to gain confidence in both the hospital and community setting to help develop your midwifery skills and achieve your band 6 competencies within 18 months of joining the Trust.
We are seeking dedicated, motivated and flexible individuals who have a passion for midwifery. Applicants must have an active NMC pin number and be available to start an induction programme on the 31st March 2025.
The successful applicant will be able to evidence professional integrity and an honest approach to embracing new and exciting opportunities and challenges that will become easily obtainable as they become an integral part of the Maternity team.
