The City of York Council's corporate Business Support Service is offering an exciting opportunity to join the team, where you'll play a vital role in supporting the Adult Social Care Community Team in West Offices.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality administrative support to the Adult Social Services Directorate, primarily supporting the Adult Social Care Community Team, Learning Disabilities, and Mental Health Teams. They will work closely with social workers, service managers, and partner agencies.
The role involves working closely with social workers to support them in their daily work. This will include developing collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, including service users and partner agencies.
The role offers a varied workload, which will involve responding at pace to changing priorities and unplanned work.
The postholder will be required to perform a number of tasks, and the key skills required include:
1. Good level of safeguarding awareness and understanding of a multi-agency environment in which Social Work teams work.
2. Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
3. Ability to integrate various council systems and databases to ensure a high level of data quality.
4. Good numeracy skills and the ability to produce, manipulate, and interpret spreadsheets and reports.
5. Good knowledge of the practical challenges of working with people with care and support needs.
6. Effective communicator, with the ability to compose concise and clear written correspondence.
7. Able to arrange and minute meetings.
8. Able to work on own initiative, be resourceful, focused, and pro-active.
9. Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, and persuasive skills. Ability to deal with staff and external contacts with tact and diplomacy.
10. Ability to undertake training as required by the post.
11. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with tact, diplomacy, and in line with GDPR requirements.
