Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a well-established construction SME to recruit a hands-on and dynamic Finance Manager to join their close-knit team in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. A varied accounting role supervising a finance assistant reporting directly to the Managing Director. A permanent finance role where you can really make the position your own, manage your own workload, and support process improvement as the business grows further. Open to finance professionals who are qualified by experience or part-qualified/qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve managing and administering the group accounts in the financial system, including preparation of consolidated management accounts, year-end preparation to trail balance including depreciation, asset movements, stock, work in progress with detailed reporting. You will support annual audit compliance, process VAT reconciliations and returns across the group, and record income/expenditure. You will reconcile banks, loans and credit cards, process weekly/monthly expenses, reconcile intercompany balances, produce creditor reports, manage the purchase ledger processes, journal processing, along with construction industry scheme administration. You will provide reporting for allocation of costs, assist with ad-hoc analysis, be involved in monthly payroll processing, and support/supervise the finance assistant. You will support the FD and Senior Management Team with ad-hoc projects and financial duties. The position will be tailored around the right candidate.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this hands-on Finance Manager role, you will need experience within a similar position, used to varied and hands-on accounting roles and adaptable to business needs. Experience working within small to medium-sized companies, managing workloads and meeting deadlines. Strong communication skills to build relationships both internally and externally with non-financial management, with experience in financial systems and MS Excel skills. Ideally, you will be part-qualified/qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA or qualified by experience. You will be a positive and proactive team member, who is comfortable suggesting/implementing improvements. Experience with CIS, the construction/property sectors and Sage line 50 would be advantageous but not essential.
What you'll get in return
This permanent Finance Manager role offers a salary between £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependable on experience based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Full-time hours, however part-time could be considered for the right finance professional.
