School Staff Instructor (SSI) – Secondary School, Ashford Location: Ashford, Surrey Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum dependant on experience (51 days holiday per year) Contract: Full-time, Permanent A secondary school in Ashford, Surrey are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Staff Instructor (SSI) to join our highly successful Combined Cadet Force (CCF) team. Reporting to the Contingent Commander, the SSI will play a pivotal role in the planning, organisation, and delivery of all CCF activities and training programs throughout the academic year. About the Role: As the School Staff Instructor, you will be responsible for supporting the CCF in providing students with leadership development, discipline, and military training. You will oversee the annual training calendar, coordinate camps and weekend training activities, manage equipment and stores, and ensure compliance with MOD regulations. Key Responsibilities: Organising and delivering weekly training sessions, weekend activities, and annual camps. Booking training areas, accommodation, rations, ammunition, and transport. Liaising with Cadet Training Team (CTT) staff and coordinating external training opportunities. Maintaining high standards of discipline and turnout among cadets. Managing all CCF equipment, uniforms, and the school’s on-site armoury. Overseeing security, maintenance, and administration of CCF facilities. Monitoring compliance with MOD and school governance policies. Supporting cadets in their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participation. Assisting with school Open Days and promotional activities for CCF recruitment. Requirements: Previous military or cadet force experience is essential. Strong leadership, organisational, and administrative skills. Experience managing training programs and working with young people. Knowledge of MOD policies, safeguarding, and health & safety regulations. Proficiency in maintaining records and handling CCF-related finances. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one). Additional Roles: This role also includes responsibilities as a Sixth Form Study Supervisor and Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC), overseeing student study sessions and ensuring compliance with school trip policies and risk assessments.
