Job summary This role is part of the Neurosurgery team at Imperial and involves cross-site work between Charing Cross Hospital and St Mary's Hospital. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work collaboratively with the broader Functional Neurosurgery team, delivering high quality care to patients with movement disorders undergoing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS), from the preoperative phase, through the intraoperative and postoperative stages, and into long-term management. The CNS has responsibilities on Clinical Practice; Leadership; Education and Research. Main duties of the job The post holder must be flexible in the approach to the clinical area, acting as a professional role model, involved in direct or indirect provision of care. Under direct or indirect supervision (once deemed competent), the post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, ensuring the provision of specialist advice to this caseload of patients and participate in decision making as a member of the wider Functional Neurosurgery MDT. The post holder will act as an advocate and apply in-depth knowledge of holistic, cultural and socio-economic aspects of care to patients in the DBS and MRgFUS pathways, acting as a resource to patients/ service users, families, carers and healthcare professionals. The post holder will guarantee the provision of care to patients in their caseload via in person or remote consultations (telephone or video clinics), under direct or indirect supervision (once deemed competent to do so), according to Trust guidance The post holder will attend relevant courses and meetings for personal and service development through evidence-based practice and collaborate with the team in disseminating the information obtained at such courses and meetings.
