An opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist to join our busy front facing team at Lawn Medical Centre.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Receptionist to join our busy, friendly practice for 30 hours a week.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, and must be flexible, reliable and be able to work shift patterns which will include opening and closing the practice.
Previous experience of working in a GP practice would be preferable but is not essential.
Main duties of the job
To assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional. To provide a courteous, efficient and effective reception service to all patients, staff members and outside bodies.
To ensure effective communication between patients and all members of the Primary Health Care Team. To maintain and monitor the practice appointment system and to collate and record information in accordance with the practice procedures.

We work with clinicians across a range of skills from General Practitioner to Physiotherapists and Pharmacists who are all part of our wider team.
Job responsibilities
Main Duties/Key Tasks:
1. Greet and appropriately direct all telephone callers and visitors to the practice.
2. Book appointments and signpost patients to other services if appropriate.
3. Awareness of Safeguarding procedures at practice and wider level and who to escalate concerns to.
4. Deal with new patient registrations.
5. File and retrieve paperwork.
6. Process repeat prescription requests.
7. Initiate contact with patients, other team members and outside agencies.
8. Ensure correspondence, reports and results are correctly assigned on the clinical IT system and deal with records accordingly.
9. Accept clinical samples according to practice procedures.
10. Act as a chaperone if necessary.
11. Cover holidays and sickness for colleagues if able to do so.
12. Attend and participate in practice meetings where appropriate.
Person Specification
Experience
* Courteous and efficient reception skills.
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
* Good written and oral presentation skills.
* Understanding the need to maintain absolute confidentiality.
* Clear understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace.
* Previous experience of working in a Primary Care setting.
* Previous experience of working in a receptionist role.
