Behaviour Support Assistant – Tameside

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Tameside starting in January 2025. In this key role, you’ll work closely with students who need extra support to manage their behaviour, helping them develop essential social and emotional skills in a positive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with behavioural challenges
* Implement behaviour management strategies under the guidance of the Behaviour Support Officer and pastoral team
* Assist in developing and executing individual behaviour plans tailored to student needs
* Actively promote positive behaviour through consistent support and constructive feedback
* Collaborate with teachers to maintain a positive learning environment, intervening when necessary to help students re-engage in lessons
* Contribute to monitoring and tracking student progress, providing regular updates to the Behaviour Support Officer
* Support school-wide initiatives such as anti-bullying programs and peer mentoring, encouraging students to take ownership of their behaviour
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone with experience in youth work, education, or behavioural support who brings patience, resilience, and a calm demeanour to every interaction. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to form trusting relationships with students. Experience with behaviour management techniques and a proactive approach to problem-solving will be highly beneficial. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
