We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Blood Transfusion and Haematology to join our team at the UHCW site. To apply you must be HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist, have completed an IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology or equivalent and have experience working as a band 5 in Blood Transfusion and Haematology in an NHS laboratory. The successful candidate must be willing to manage a busy workload, be forward thinking and keen to develop new skills. You must have good communication skills, be able to work successfully as part of a team and be able to work on your own initiative.
Participation in the 24/7 shift rota is expected of the successful candidate.
Required
As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Pathology the post holder is responsible for the delegated tasks required for the delivery of a fit-for-purpose medical laboratory service analysing and reporting on blood samples. Duties include:
* Validation of Haematology, Coagulation and Blood transfusion Results
* Issue of blood components
* Training staff
* Supervising sections of the department
* Performing specialist testing
* Quality management
