DCI Task Forces are responsible for analysis and assessment of various regional and thematic areas, as well as counter espionage operations and insider threat investigations. The exact role will be dependent on the unit’s current need and any relevant experience held by the successful candidate. Depending on the specific position offered, successful candidates could be responsible primarily for investigations (which can be complex and in collaboration with other agencies), operations, or all-source intelligence analysis, but will be expected to contribute across all areas. Working with the wider team, the principal duties could include:
Deliver and communicate high quality, impactful counter intelligence outputs. This should be underpinned by analysis (verbal and written) that adheres to the Professional Head of Intelligence Assessment’s Analytic Standards and DI guidance. When required, plan and conduct Defence investigations and operations to counter the threat from hostile espionage and intelligence threats, including insider threats, within resource and risk parameters. This ranges from managerial oversight, planning and co-ordination to on –the-ground investigative and operational activity.
Coordinate Defence input into counter intelligence activity conducted by other organisations
Build Subject Matter Expertise and maintain a high level of situational awareness, using all resources available to you. Act as an expert across your community.
Ensure intelligence gaps are identified; actively seek to fill gaps through conducting research and tasking collection following the relevant guidance, processes and legislation. Engage with efforts to innovate data exploitation.
Deliver and communicate high quality, impactful intelligence assessments (verbal and written) that adhere to the Professional Head of Intelligence Assessment’s Analytic Standards and DI guidance.
Apply a range of critical and creative approaches and techniques to process information and answer customer intelligence requirements. Maintain and develop analytic skills. Promote good tradecraft and give and accept constructive challenge.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with key customers and ensure intelligence output is aligned to their requirements, decision-making processes and timelines.
Participate fully in relevant national and international intelligence community collaboration processes and activities.
Due to the nature of the role, the post holder is required to spend the majority of their working week in the office and candidates must understand that this will remain the requirement. The postholder will also be required to travel between MOD Main Building and RAF Wyton on a regular basis and again this will remain the requirement.
