Dragon School has an exciting opportunity for a Bank Nurse to join the team.
The Dragon is seeking to appoint a School Nurse to join the Bank Team for the Dragon Health Centre. The Dragon Health Centre (DHC) is purpose-built with two clinical consultation rooms (one is used for doctor and dental surgeries), one quiet room where children can rest, and one main reception area. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms with 11 beds in total for children who are unwell and stay overnight at the DHC. There are toilet, shower, and bath facilities for the children. There is a nurse’s bedroom where the duty nurse sleeps, plus a bath, shower, and kitchen for the DHC staff.
The Dragon Health Centre is managed by the Lead Nurse, and the team consists of 9 school nurses, one nursing assistant, one nursing administrator/assistant, and a gap boarding assistant. The DHC team provides a high standard of care for all the children and staff in the Dragon school community.
Overall Responsibility
The role of a nurse within a school setting includes caring for children in the broadest terms of their health: physical, emotional, and mental. The School Nurse will be sympathetic and supportive to all members of the school community and will provide a holistic approach which includes health promotion, personal, social, and health education (PSHE), and illness and injury assessment and treatment.
The successful applicant will demonstrate professionalism, commitment, initiative, common sense, and the ability to work under pressure. The School Nurse will be responsible to the Lead Nurse and will be expected to work closely with the other school nurses, the nursing assistant, the gap boarding assistant, house parents, the pastoral team, and safeguarding leads. All employees are responsible for following the policies of the school including the Dragon Safeguarding policy, Code of Conduct, and IT policy.
At Dragon School, we know that diversity promotes creativity and innovation. We are committed to equity of opportunity and to being a fair and inclusive employer. We therefore particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups.
