Ayrton Group are seeking an EHS Advisor for an upcoming project with our client, a leading manufacturer of onshore wind turbines, in the Scottish Highlands.
The EHS Advisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards at wind farm construction and operation sites, thereby ensuring the protection of workers and the environment. This role empowers you to influence EHS policy and create a safe place to work and visit.
This is a 3 month contract position with the potential for extension. Weekly hours will be 10 hours per day, working Monday - Saturday.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as First Level Support for all HSE related matter as they happen on site.
* Communicate the status of the risk mitigation measures.
* Manage, update, and amend the HSE Plan, CPP, or ERP if required during the projects timeline.
* Conduct inspection/site visits/safety walks to confirm the works executed on site by any workmen, or subcontractor is executed in compliance with the HSE requirements and site specific risk assessments.
* Conduct daily exchanges with the site project team members following up site observations.
* Ensure daily communication with and regular reports to the management concerning HSE deviations and hazards.
* Ensure technical documentation review in line with specific project activity and safe system of work relating to that activity.
* Organise project meetings on safety and environmental issues.
* Attend relevant construction site meetings (Toolbox Meetings, Daily Construction Meetings, etc.) and, if required customers meetings.
* Check and ensure that all workers involved in working at height have a current G41 (or other equivalent current medical certificate).
* To provide and initiate safety inductions and training for all staff/subcontractors as required.
* Organise and/or support presenters of Toolbox Meetings.
* Support management with subcontractor communication prior to arrival on site regarding the HSE plan and other necessary safety documents to enable subcontractors to carry out their activities under safe conditions
* Review risk assessment and safety documents for activities prepared by subcontractors prior to activity beginning, coordinate and check that local conditions and influence of simultaneous works have been considered and assessed accordingly.
* Create emergency plan and update as required.
* Ensure regular checks of all entrances and exits, muster points, communication channels.
* Ensure immediate and appropriate help in case of emergency. Ensure immediate communication with management.
* Take the necessary measures to confirm that local emergency services are informed about the emergency plan and updates to guarantee immediate and appropriate help.
* Organise regular training and drills for staff in case of emergency.
* Attend site HSE meetings organised by the Client, or Duty Holder where required.
* Regular review of all operational activity to ensure clients Safety Principles are implemented and adhered to.
* Confirm and identify that all subcontractors nominate a member of staff as a point of contact for site health and safety issues.
Key Requirements:
* NEBOSH Diploma, National General Certificate or NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or NVQ Level 5 OS&H.
* Minimum of 3 years work experience in a similar EHS Advisor position required.
* Working at Heights certification required.
* Previous experience in the wind energy sector required.
* Thorough knowledge of current UK Safety legislation & regulations.
* Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills to lead a team.
* Excellent ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Fluency in English is required, other languages would be advantageous.
* You must be legally permitted to live and work in the UK.
