Job Summary/Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Manager/ Principal Design Manager to lead on design and technical components of medium to large-scale residential construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of design management, sustainability, fire safety regulations and design information management. In addition, advise on materials, construction methods and innovative practices. Be a proactive member of the UK local management team and successfully manage future staff within the Technical/Design team. This role requires strong analytical skills, extensive knowledge of construction and methods, enhancing the buildability of design, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
The Senior Technical Manager / Principal Design Manager will ensure the management and co-ordination of the external consultant team through all stages of project procurement (Land & Planning, Commercial, Production, Sales and After Care) and actively support the Project team in all matters arising. They will ensure that all disciplines are fully joined up and in synchronisation. Checking layout drawings, suppliers and manufacturers' details. Assisting in obtaining necessary Building Regulation Technical Approvals and advising all internal Teams of updates and progress. Efficiently resolve and co-ordinate any issues arising from the external consultants.
The Suitable Candidate will be able to demonstrate:
* New Homes Development background to a Senior Manager/Head of Department level with a mixture of Design/Sustainability/Fire Protection experience.
* Broad range of construction experience including main contracting, developing.
* Complex project management of multi-phase developments and managing multiple projects.
* Strong Leadership qualities, demonstrating an ability to grow, motivate and lead your teams.
* Highly skilled in implementing new and robust processes, procedures, structures.
* Leads by example with a focus on developing and supporting staff to maximise their potential and strengths.
* Flexible, adaptable and able to manage fluctuating workloads.
* Strong influential, persuasion and negotiation skills.
* Passion, drive and enthusiasm for delivering outstanding quality homes and communities.
* A real focus on delivering bespoke, tailored, unique design and construction.
* Strong team player with a focus on driving both team and site performance.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Design Management, with a thorough knowledge if the full development/technical process.
* Previous experience as a Senior Technical Manager / Principal Design Manager within a residential development organisation preferred.
* Industry related qualification.
* Bi-lingual English and Mandarin would be useful.
