An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Band 3 support worker to work within our Home Therapies dialysis team at UHNM. We are an expanding team who care for, and assist, a cohort of patients to undertake peritoneal dialysis at home 7 days a week.
The team is cohesive and professional with a genuine interest and passion for providing a high standard of dialysis care. If you are looking for a new challenge, then this innovative unit will provide you with an exciting and rewarding role in Renal Nursing. Previous healthcare experience is essential. The team is dedicated to training and promoting continual professional development and will provide full support and training, with a protected supernumerary period to allow for learning.
Part time hours will be considered.
As part of the Home Therapies team, the post holder will work unsupervised, carrying out delegated tasks to assist and support patients on peritoneal dialysis in the community. The post holder will be required to drive to a designated number of patients' homes per day where they will undertake pre-dialysis assessments, set up automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) machines, connect and disconnect patients from their dialysis machines and perform Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) in accordance with individual dialysis prescriptions. A home dialysis clinical nurse specialist (CNS) will be available for support, escalation and advice at all times.
