Position Overview
The Senior Manager – Payroll, EMEA will lead and manage payroll operations across the EMEA region, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately, on time and in full compliance with local tax regulations and employment laws. This role is instrumental in optimising payroll systems, policies and procedures to support the ongoing growth and scaling of the business.
Duties
* Payroll Processing Leadership: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of multiple outsourced monthly payrolls across the EMEA region.
* Validation & Compliance: Lead on ensuring payroll calculations comply with local tax, social security, and employment regulations by validating and approving data with precision.
* Analytical Reviews: Conduct detailed analysis and comparisons of payroll data against prior periods to enable swift and informed approval of monthly payrolls.
* Vendor Performance Oversight: Monitor and manage the regional payroll vendor’s performance to ensure adherence to SLAs, control measures, and compliance standards.
* Regulatory Partnership: Collaborate with third-party providers to stay updated on and comply with local regulations surrounding payroll, taxes, and national insurance.
* Point of Contact: Act as the primary contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees, management, and external vendors, ensuring clear and prompt communication.
* Audit & Reporting: Perform control checks for internal and external audits while ensuring the timely preparation and delivery of required documentation.
* Process Improvement: Work cross-functionally to identify opportunities for payroll process optimisation, implementing best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
* Reporting: Generate monthly payroll reports for finance teams and provide ad-hoc summaries as required.
* Policy Development: Assist in creating, implementing, and maintaining international payroll policies to ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.
* Collaboration with People & Culture: Partner closely with the People & Culture team to address matters related to employee compensation, benefits, and other payments.
* Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Job Requirements
* Experience of managing payroll across multiple countries, preferably within the EMEA region, with the ability to demonstrate strong knowledge of payroll regulations, standards, tax laws and compliance requirements.
* Professional payroll certification (CPP or equivalent)
* Experience in compensation and benefits across multiple countries in EMEA
* Fluency in multiple languages is desirable but not mandatory
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
* Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate internally with team members as well as externally with service providers
* Excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines
* Assertive and confident and able to quickly build a high level of personal and professional credibility within the business and customer base
* Ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
* Travel is expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for training purposes.
