We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician based at our water production site at Latton (GL7 5QF) near Swindon.
The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment at our water production sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical equipment.
Follow robust planned maintenance as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. As well as provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
Base Location: Latton WTW- Cirencester - GL7 5QF
Working Hours: 38 hours per week Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

What you'll be doing as the Electrical Technician:
1. Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
2. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
3. You will be expected to provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
4. Examples of equipment that you will be working on include motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
5. Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
6. Complete License to operate (Operate sites and learn the water treatment processes).
Minimum Requirements:
1. 18th Edition Electrical City and Guilds certification is crucial.
2. Ideally an apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems working in a true multi-skilled capacity.
3. NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in mechanical engineering would also be ideal but not essential.
4. Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying or repairing electrical plant equipment.
5. Ideally experience maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD and 3-phase electrical switchgear is essential.
6. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry would benefit this role.
7. The work will require physical fitness.
8. You will need the ability to work in confined spaces and will require the completion of appropriate training for this.
9. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Offering a salary of up to £39,000 per annum plus opportunities to earn extra money through overtime and standby when available. Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
