As a Learning Support Assistant at our school, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with a range of learning needs, helping them to succeed both academically and socially. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist individual students or small groups with their learning tasks, both inside and outside the classroom.
2. Support students with additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum effectively.
3. Provide emotional and social support to students, helping to build their confidence and self-esteem.
4. Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and support behavioural strategies.
5. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
6. Support classroom management to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
7. Help with the preparation of teaching materials and resources.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
1. A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.
2. Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting (desirable but not essential).
3. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
4. Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to different learning needs.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) is beneficial.
