The Role
This opportunity is perfect for an experienced Linux Engineer with expertise in enterprise MSP environments. As a customer-facing position, excellent communication skills are essential. The role requires a strong ability to support and mentor colleagues while acting as a key escalation point for the team.
The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with virtualization, patch management, and managing large-scale virtualized environments. Advanced knowledge of RHEL, RHEL Satellite, VMware, and Windows Server OS management is essential. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of client IT systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage, optimize, and maintain virtual server infrastructure, operating systems, and related management tools to support client services.
* Ensure compliance with industry best practices and standards across IT environments.
* Communicate clearly and effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Maintain thorough documentation and generate performance reports.
* Work collaboratively with the operations team to resolve issues and identify areas for process improvement.
* Provide incident management and fulfill service requests to meet client needs.
* Participate in on-call and out-of-hours duties as required.
Qualifications/Skills:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
* Extensive experience in RHEL administration.
* Strong expertise in Windows Server and Active Directory management.
* Advanced knowledge of RHEL Satellite.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities.
* Scripting and automation experience (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, Bash).
* Solid understanding of networking and security principles.
* Proven experience managing and optimizing complex IT infrastructures.
Preferred Skills:
* Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
* Windows Server certifications (e.g., MCSA or equivalent).
* VMware expertise.
* Knowledge of SAN storage management.
* Experience with backup tools such as Veeam or Commvault.
* Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
