You will be responsible for a specialist orthoptic workload centred around our Paediatric Ophthalmology clinics. This post is open to orthoptists with post graduate clinical experience only. The Orthoptic and Children's Eye Clinic is based on the St James's University Hospital site in a dedicated unit in the Multispecialty Outpatients building. In addition to hospital sessions you will be required to undertake day sessions in Health Centres around Leeds so a willingness to travel is essential. Interviews are likely to be held on 4th April 2025 Main duties of the job You will undertake comprehensive orthoptic assessment of children and adults with a wide range of abilities / disorders e.g. infantile cataract, nystagmus, learning disabilities, autism, stroke in standalone Orthoptic clinics and in joint clinics with optometrists and ophthalmologists. The Orthoptic Department is committed to high quality investigation and care for our patients. You will provide clinical teaching for undergraduate orthoptic placements, trainee ophthalmologists, pre reg optometrists and student nurses. You will be prepared to learn and undertake perimetry including Octopus Goldmann Visual Fields.
