Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• To work autonomously formulating exercise and wellbeing programmes for patients staying on the wards.
• To assess, instruct and supervise people in both individual and group exercises.
• Be confident in leading exercise and gym classes with people who have varying abilities.
• To independently plan appropriate exercises and wellbeing programmes in accordance with the individual needs.
• To help plan new physical health and well-being initiatives for service and along with senior Occupational Therapy staff provide leadership for activity coordinators working within the Occupational Therapy team
• Keep accurate records of individual exercise programmes.
• To co-ordinate and develop a range of health promotion activities.
• Engage and coach individuals around their health and lifestyle and promote positive behaviour change.
• To develop a professional rapport with people staying on the wards to encourage motivation in health and wellbeing.
• To deal sensitively with people who have acute mental illness.
• To be able to asses and where necessary feedback on people’s current presentation in a timely and appropriate manner.
• To take a lead and support the OT Clinical Lead in the management of the gymnasium including systems for cleaning, maintenance and health and safety policies.
• To ensure that up to date electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with Trust standards.
• To develop and maintain local networks with statutory, voluntary and private organisations to support individual patients in their on-going recovery and independence.
• To complete necessary statistical information, e.g. daily diary sheets.
• To autonomously evaluate service delivery and conduct audits as agreed with service lead and thereby contribute to service improvements and enable effective clinical governance.
• Provide written reports of specific patient progress/ review to contribute to the Occupational Therapy care plan
• To manage a caseload consisting of short term focused support for patients, aimed at supporting Occupational therapy team to deliver a physical health and well-being package of support.
Additional Responsibilities
· To undertake violence reduction training to develop skills to be able torespond to local alarms when raised, assisting with restraints to keep people on the wards safe.
• Support the delivery of the therapeutic activities as appropriate
• Willingness to take on additional roles and responsibilities within the team such as first aider, infection prevention control link, etc
