Saipem is currently looking for a Contracts Advisor in the London office.
Responsibilities:
1. Report directly to the head of contract management.
2. Liaise and negotiate with external customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
3. Perform contracts analysis and research as well as contracts review, qualification, drafting, and negotiation.
4. Provide day-to-day advice and support to Saipem’s internal clients in the areas of tendering activities, project execution, and procurement.
5. Liaise with other Company and Corporate support functions (Finance, Tax, Business Development, Estimating, Project Control, Insurance, Legal Affairs).
6. Support business in tender preparation and negotiation, project execution.
7. Contribute to the success of commercial proposals with a distribution of risks and based on terms acceptable to the Company.
8. Support the completion of projects within time and budget; contribute to the mitigation of risks and maximization of profits resulting from the execution of projects.
9. Manage contractual obligations, including claims identification assessment, negotiation, and resolution to minimize risk and ensure contract compliance.
10. Act as a trusted advisor and business partner across the Company.
11. Ensure Saipem’s standard contracting rules are adequately applied to all contracts, considering the perceived level of risks involved.
12. Acquire a strong knowledge of Saipem’s global organization, services, and assets.
Essential Skills for the Role:
1. Understanding of LOGIC, FIDIC, and incoterms.
2. Experience and knowledge of English Law - preferable.
3. Knowledge of the components of the Company core business, including EPC contracts, platform components, installation and removal, techniques of pipelines installation, onshore and floating plants, subsea field, and maritime works.
4. Understanding and knowledge of common and civil law systems, particularly contract law.
5. Knowledge of legal principles and obligations related to partnership agreements (Joint Ventures, Consortia, Heads of Agreement, Frame Agreement, Memorandum of Understanding, etc.).
6. Rigorous in contract preparation, ensuring negotiated modifications are implemented and all documents are correctly assembled.
7. Full comprehension of all legal obligations arising from contracts entered into by the Company.
8. Ability to think through situations from different perspectives and consider costs/benefits and organizational implications.
9. Lead and steer actions with accountability and tenacity to ensure successful outcomes.
10. Understand market dynamics and trends affecting the business.
11. Be open to change and continuous improvement, driving these by energizing people.
12. Collaborate with peers or teams of different functions and countries to achieve collective success.
13. Search for opportunities to increase and improve own know-how and competencies.
