The Service Delivery Assistant is a key customer facing role that ensures the safety of customers, colleagues and contractors on the station. You must be vigilant of all activity on the station and take action in the event of any unsafe behaviours or conditions observed. You are responsible for the safe and efficient dispatch of train services and managing the platform environment. A key member of the team, you will be involved in all aspects of the station and supporting colleagues in their roles. This is a challenging role that demands great customer service skills, flexibility and an ability to respond to the ever-changing demands of a busy railway station.
Your main responsibilities will be:
1. Providing excellent customer service to our customers
2. Excellent platform management
3. Report any faults and Safety/Security issues
4. Undertaking Winter Weather duties
5. Completing mobile assists with use of ramps
6. Upkeep the presentation of the station
7. Undertake other duties at managements request
8. Collaborate with teams to provide real time information during disruptions
9. Dispatching trains safely and on time
10. Prioritize the safety of customers, colleagues, and visitors
You'll need to be:
11. Able to provide excellent customer service
12. Able to work under pressure
13. Have a good level of IT skills
14. Have a can do attitude
15. Have a good level of numeracy and literacy
16. Good organisational skills
As a minimum you'll need to have:
17. The ability to work as part of a team or independently
18. Evidence of numerical ability
19. Strong verbal and written communication skill
20. Experience of working in an environment where safety is paramount
Working Pattern:
The role requires shift working including weekend and bank holidays. You will have a four week roster that rotates around the following shift patterns, working two in four Sundays.
One of these shifts you will be the sole person from GWR on-site. Therefore you must be comfortable to work alone.
Additional information
Candidates successfully shortlisted will be expected to undertake an online ability test, and a competency-based interview. Interviews will take place w/c 4th November. The successful candidate will need to meet the medical standards for this role, including colour vision and hearing tests, together with a drugs and alcohol screen. A Basic DBS is also required.
Full training will be provided over a 3 week period (Monday to Friday), which takes place at our Training Centre in Swindon.
