Role: Continuous Improvement Engineer
Salary: Up to £32k per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 38 hours per weekDo you thrive on identifying areas for improvement and implementing innovative solutions? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our client as a Continuous Improvement Engineer.
Responsibilities:
1. Identify opportunities to enhance processes and methods for manufactured components and finished goods.
2. Maintain standard work instructions related to routing templates.
3. Collaborate with management to identify opportunities for operational flexibility and product value engineering.
4. Document and log improvement opportunities, provide costing justifications, and facilitate change development, implementation, and training support.
5. Implement new processes and methods, supporting them with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and providing necessary training.
6. Establish testing and inspection processes/procedures and utilize cost of quality reporting.
7. Validate production routings, timings, and item control, supporting policy changes and participating in cost of sales meetings.
8. Manage all data and information related to discrepancy lists and punch lists.
9. Initiate Engineering Change Notes (ECN) and develop procedures to reduce non-conformance.
10. Control ECN Register and reporting.
11. Review and investigate efficiency reports to develop improvements.
12. Monitor section performance and report daily progress to supervisors.
13. Provide daily and weekly efficiency summaries to production and operations management.
14. Provide shop floor supervision cover as requested.
Key Goals:
15. Upgrade routing and timings structure in line with new procedures/rules, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
16. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) manual for training staff and creating a skill matrix and development plan.
17. Define action plans based on material standards and usage/price standards for variance reporting.
18. Support the continuous improvement process and culture within the production team.
19. Create project plans using .xls format or MS Project.
20. Report on ECN progress and workload.
Qualifications:
21. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
22. Previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
23. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
24. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
25. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
26. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
