We are delighted to share that we have a fixed-term role until Summer 2027 for a Head of Communications – Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This is a broad and exciting role for a dynamic, motivated individual who will be an integral part of Tesco's Corporate Affairs team, supporting our work to engage effectively with a wide range of media and political stakeholders, and broader external organisations. Given the nature of the role, regular UK-travel (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) will be required. You will be responsible for: Overseeing and implementing a proactive approach to local stakeholder engagement - including devolved governments, local MPs and elected representatives, and putting forward a proactive communications agenda. Supporting the team’s monitoring of relevant political institutions whilst working closely with both external organisations and colleagues across the business to engage constructively with relevant bodies. Drafting materials, including briefings, presentations, correspondence and external communications. Supporting policy development as required, including the formation of consultation responses and policy positions. Leading Tesco’s relationship with the relevant trade bodies in the designated areas. Working closely with Tesco colleagues in stores to support and promote their Community work to a diverse range of audiences. Amplifying Tesco’s Community programmes at a local level, and producing content for internal and external purposes. Representing the business externally including at public meetings and community-related speaking opportunities. Identify and deliver proactive influencing opportunities, working with internal and external stakeholders, to showcase the business positively, support integrated campaigns and host visits as required. You will need: Ideally a background in British/devolved politics and / or local communications with knowledge of both An interest in Tesco, the retail sector and business policy more generally. Strong influencing and communication skills and excellent written skills. Ability to understand complex issues quickly. Ability to manage multiple tasks and excellent organisational skills. Good knowledge and working experience of Office IT systems - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook Experience or understanding of working closely with political stakeholders including elected representatives, civil servants and advisers.
