About the role:
To safely execute all Paint Operations through the facility, ensuring targets are met in terms of Cost, Delivery and Quality. You are required to ensure that all safety measures are considered and taken and the environment is protected, responsible for consumables including paint stocks. The paint shop must remain ISO compliant and meet the highest cleanliness standards. The successful applicant must be prepared to align to any shift pattern where the business requires (subject to appropriate notice periods).
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Input into and deliver the paint operations schedule of work across all areas of manufacturing (Bridges, Fabrications, AIT, parts etc.)
2. Deliver the paint operations schedule on-time and in full.
3. Ensure safe operations through detailed risk assessment and by addressing hazards identified within the paint operations area.
4. Transfer knowledge to new team members to perform tasks to the required skill level.
5. Co-ordinate skills to enable de-trim and re-trim of assemblies pre and post paint operations.
6. Maintain training and competency matrices for all paint operations team members.
7. Adopt and maintain clean-room practices, ensuring contamination is minimised.
8. Manage the preventative maintenance schedule within the paint booths, ensuring filters and serviceable components are maintained in line with documented procedures.
9. Manage and liaise with third party contractors supporting paint operations (paint suppliers, filter media, booth maintenance contractors etc.)
10. Ensure materials are handled & used in line with COSHH safety data sheet advice / precautions.
11. Complete all legislative checks within the paint operations environment.
12. Ensure all paint operations team members adhere to PPE requirements within the area.
13. Full consideration must be given to ISO14001 Environmental standards.
14. Ensure all tasks carried out conform to Quality standards (including ISO9001 / AQAP2110).
What we’re looking for:
Applications from candidates who can demonstrate the following requirements will be considered, however, if you do not meet all the requirements, please explain why you are suitable for the position:
1. Previous knowledge of operating in a paint spraying environment, ideally working with vehicles.
2. Knowledge of spray gun setup, clean down & operating procedures.
3. Prior experience of mixing paint materials within required parameters.
4. Experience of applying inspection standards on finished product to defined standards.
5. Knowledge of preparation (masking, sanding, priming, cleaning etc.) of panels prior to paint application.
6. May involve initial training overseas (Germany).
7. Must be flexible with regard to working alternate shifts and overtime as business requires.
8. Able to communicate at all levels.
9. Leadership by example and development of potential.
10. Good written and oral communication skills.
11. Ability to work and make decisions under pressure.
12. Time management skills, computer literacy, ability to work as part of a team.
