The role
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to join our dynamic team in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, ensuring efficient stock movement, and supporting the global supply chain operations. Full-Time, Permanent Role £40,000 per year Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm
Key accountabilities
Inventory Management: · Monitor and manage inventory levels to satisfy demand while reducing excess stock. · Ensure that inventory transactions are accurately recorded in the system, including stock movements, changes, and returns. · Conduct frequent stock counts, audits, and reconcile any differences between physical inventory and system data. · Implement and maintain inventory control methods to reduce errors and prevent stock losses. Stock Replenishment: · Collaborate with buying teams to guarantee timely and accurate stock replenishment based on anticipated demand and turnover. · Assist in recognising inventory utilisation patterns and making recommendations for optimal stock levels. · Monitor supplier lead times and modify inventory levels as needed to avoid stockouts or surplus. Reporting and Data Analysis: · Create regular inventory reports that show critical variables like stock levels, turnover rates, and stock ageing. · Analyse inventory data to detect potential problems such as overstocking, stockouts, and slow-moving items. · Make recommendations for changes based on the inventory data analysis and conclusions. Stock Movement and Logistics: · Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure that stock is moved between locations in a timely and efficient manner. · Track stock from receipt to distribution and use proper storage methods to avoid damage or loss. · Support return management by ensuring that stock is accurately accounted for and processed. Collaboration & Communication: · Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and customer service, to communicate inventory levels and resolve stock-related issues. · Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring product availability and responding to inventory-related inquiries in a timely manner.
Skills & experience
Skills, Qualifications, Competence Level Qualifications/education/Specialist Training required ESSENTIAL Qualifications A-levels or equivalent; a degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field is advantageous. Relevant certifications in inventory management or supply chain (e.g., APICS, CIPS) are a plus. Skills Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage large volumes of data accurately. Analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach to inventory issues. Excellent organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams. Experience Required ESSENTIAL Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level) for reporting and data analysis. Knowledge of inventory management systems (ERP or WMS) Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of logistics and distribution processes is beneficial. An understanding of global inventory regulations (if applicable) DESIRABLE Knowledge of SAP Business One.
