Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Engineer to support the delivery of electrical installation works within the Nuclear Island scope of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project. The role involves overseeing the execution of electrical construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, technical specifications, and project schedules. The successful candidate will work closely with contractors, project teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless execution of the works.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervision & Coordination: Oversee the installation of electrical systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols.
* Technical Oversight: Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and method statements to ensure correct implementation.
* Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all electrical work complies with UK nuclear regulatory standards, CDM regulations, and project quality requirements.
* HSE Compliance: Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, identifying and mitigating potential risks on-site.
* Progress Monitoring: Track and report construction progress, addressing any delays or issues that may impact project timelines.
* Issue Resolution: Identify technical and construction challenges and work with design and construction teams to implement solutions.
* Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with subcontractors, client representatives, and other engineering disciplines to ensure alignment and integration of works.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Proven experience in electrical construction within the nuclear sector, preferably on large-scale projects.
* Strong knowledge of nuclear safety standards.
* Experience working in a highly regulated construction environment, ideally within a nuclear power plant project.
* Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to work on-site in a dynamic and fast-paced construction environment.
* Experience in large-scale electrical infrastructure projects.
* Understanding of HV/LV power distribution systems, grounding, and cable management.
* Previous experience working with international teams and subcontractors.
* Knowledge of 3D BIM modeling and digital engineering tools is advantageous.
