About the role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Strategic Communications Manager to join our Communications team. This role will be pivotal in leading, shaping and executing our communication strategies across all charitable activity. It will manage two Strategic Communications Managers to establish new ways of working to support the delivery of our new strategy. Working closely with the digital, public affairs, media, marketing and brand teams to ensure that there is a cohesive customer journey and impactful messaging across all channels online and offline.
Additionally, this role will oversee and lead the account management of communications tasks across strategic communications and building strong relationships internally and with key stakeholders in the sector as required.
What you will be doing:
* Oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive communication strategies for a range of different B2B and B2C audiences that profile our work and promote our grant, innovation and research products and services.
* Support the Head of External Communications, Brand and Marketing to develop and implement communications partnerships and developing communications frameworks for key partners and funded organisations e.g. RNIB, NCAT.
* Support the Head of External Communications, Brand and Marketing to develop and deliver our overarching core narrative, organisation content and editorial plan, impact and evaluation narrative (and supporting products e.g. ARA) aligned to audience journeys.
* Lead the Strategic Communications Managers to ensure that there is a smooth customer journey for different audiences across identified touchpoints, maximising the impact of our content and CTAs for all audiences.
* Working closely with the Media and Public Affairs teams to align communications strategies to media and public affairs goals.
* Lead and deliver communications strategies or integrated marketing campaigns for different audiences as required.
* Ensure there is collaboration with the marketing, brand, digital and press teams to create and manage content for various platforms, including social media, website, email campaigns, and press releases.
* Ensure effective project management in an account management type structure, ensuring timely and effective execution of communication plans and initiatives. This includes reporting to COO on key projects, risks, milestones and status.
* Oversee and manage risks and external factors that could influence the communications message, ensuring proactive and strategic responses.
* Monitor and analyse communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
* Preparing board papers, briefings for Governors or other key stakeholders.
* Support Head of Communications, Brand and Marketing in developing business plans, budget and risk management for the Communications team.
* Oversee the engagement model and collaborate with innovation, research, and grant teams to set creative, clear strategic communications goals that raise the awareness and profile of our work in the right way, with the right audiences. This will involve creative brainstorming of tools and tactics as well as gathering examples of best practice from industry.
About you:
Must haves:
* Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
* Minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience in strategic communications, with a strong background in marketing, branding, and digital.
* Demonstrated experience of influencing and persuading senior leaders in an organisation.
* Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies and integrated marketing campaigns for different audiences – for example customers and supporters vs other businesses or organisations.
* The ability to commission or carry out research and insight gathering to inform successful audience profiling and targeting for communications strategies.
* Demonstrated experience of managing external partnerships.
* Experience of developing new ways of working to maximise skills, collaboration and campaign success across interdisciplinary teams.
* Proven track record of managing a team to effectively deliver on time and on budget.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and content for diverse audiences.
* Experience of creating a range of content for different platforms, from video and infographic to web pages and social media posts.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, people and deadlines.
* Proficiency in using communication and marketing tools, such as social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics software.
* Ability to lead and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
Nice to have:
* Experience of managing agencies (e.g. communications, design).

Extra Information
* The role is based In Harlow, Essex at Motability’s offices, easily commutable from London, 30 minutes from Liverpool Street station or 18 minutes from Tottenham Hale station.
* Blended working arrangement with three days a week working from home and two days a week in the office.
* The job holder may be required to travel around the UK from time to time to attend various exhibitions, events relating to work. This could involve occasionally overnight stays and working outside of normal office hours (including weekends).
