You will take a key role in the management and leadership of the department. As a registered, accountable and autonomous nurse to act in the best interests of your patients at all times and take personal responsibility for your actions and decisions. Opportunities exist for full or part time covering 24hr shift patterns which are family friendly (evenings, early/late etc.) usually over 3-5 days / nights per week (hours dependent).
Main duties of the job
With an increasing attendance of approximately 50,000 patients per year we also pride ourselves in providing high quality care. We are a designated Trauma Unit and SFT have a Spinal Unit and Burns and Plastics Unit. We are currently expanding our leadership team to make us a leading department in Wessex. We also work closely with the ambulance service and other specialist teams within the hospital and in the community.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate expert knowledge in emergency nursing and be able to translate this into effective nursing practice. They will need to be a team player, have proven leadership abilities, be energetic, proactive and committed to their own professional development and that of others.
A minimum of 2 years ED experience is required and 6 months previous experience at band 6. The band 6 role will include acting as shift co-ordinator; leading front door services as the ED navigator; mentor a night group and complete staff appraisals. Mentorship qualifications are desirable, as are EPALS, ALS, TNCC [or other trauma related courses].
We are an integrated paediatric department and currently see approximately 10,000 paediatric patients per year. If you are a Registered Sick Children's Nurse with 2 years of ED experience and have, or are willing to work towards, adult competencies then we would also like to hear from you.
