The Performance Cable Systems and Materials Division has been a leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality copper and fiber optic communication cables for over 35 years. Our state-of-the-art facility specializes in the design and construction of advanced communication cables. The PCA Category 5e, 6, 6A, and fiber optic cables are engineered to surpass applicable standards and outperform required specifications for applications such as gigabit Ethernet, 10-gigabit Ethernet, VOIP, and POE+.
Position Summary
This role is responsible for tracking and executing all R&D activities within the Engineering department with a specific focus on New Product Development. In addition, this role is accountable for providing the proper support to internal customers specific to the Specialty business unit, as it relates to the creation of quotes, customer specifications and manufacturing specifications.

Primary Responsibilities
* Oversee and coordinate new product development as well as product enhancement/cost reduction projects within the Engineering Department following the established stage gate system.
* Ensure timely and accurate support of internal customers specific to the Specialty business unit through proper coordination of department resources/reports, including creation of quotes, specifications for customer sign-off, and detailed technical specifications for product manufacturing.
* Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the specific business unit regarding technical matters.
Secondary Responsibilities
* Represent the company's interests at regular meetings of IEEE, IBTA, ODVA, TIA, BICSI, and others as indicated by company management.
* Act as liaison with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL) to cover all testing requirements on new and/or enhanced products.
* Create white papers and assist company technical staff in communicating new technology and/or products developed by the company. Assist with website enhancement regarding technical training, technology explanations, and performance-oriented sales materials.
* Research, develop, and present DoE plans and provide innovative solutions in problem areas.
* Lead new material research activities for continuous improvement and/or novel product developments.
* Propose and assist in new patent registrations based on new technologies/projects/processes developed by the company.
* Assist the quality department in the creation of test procedures, testing templates, test fixtures, and equipment purchases.
* Assist Production department and Process engineering team with technical obstacles present in day-to-day operations.
* Assist lab staff with QA issues relating to signal performance and failure analysis.
* Adhere to the core HCM goals of ISO9000 Total Quality Management.
* Subscribe to and practice 5S, JIT, etc.
* Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors.
* Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision.
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
* Minimum B.S. degree in an Engineering discipline and 10 years comparable cable or component design experience.
* Prior technical advisory board experience/participation.
* Relevant engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
* Exceptional mathematical skills, including the utilization of mathematical modeling techniques.
* Detail-oriented with attention to accuracy and thoroughness.
* Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet or exceed deadlines.
* Ability to prioritize, multitask, and troubleshoot activities.
* Ability to work under pressure of time and resource constraints.
* Respond to shifting priorities in a cooperative manner.
* Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Proficiency utilizing computer programs, customized systems, and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills for communication with management, co-workers, outside vendors, etc.
