Job overview
Ward 23 is an acute, fast-paced environment comprising of 33 beds, treating patients with tracheostomies, laryngectomies, and non-invasive ventilation requiring acute interventions/management. We provide holistic care to acutely unwell patients and those with chronic respiratory conditions, including lung cancer, asthma, COPD, TB, type 1 and type 2 respiratory failure, pleural effusions, pneumothorax, tracheostomies, and PE’s.
Support will be given at a clinical level by a senior nurse, and from a wider organizational structure including the preceptorship lead, clinical skills team, clinical practice development nurse, and learning and development. Staff can obtain the knowledge and skills required to rotate into the Non-invasive Ventilation unit.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
* BSc in Nursing (Diploma in Nursing as a minimum)
* Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor Training
Experience
* Recent clinical nursing experience as a student or registered nurse
* Experience within the relevant clinical setting
* Evidence of maintaining a clinical learning environment
* Evidence of working with learners
Knowledge
* Sound clinical nursing knowledge and a good understanding of nursing issues and clinical governance
* Demonstrates awareness of own limitations
Skills
* Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks appropriately
