Attewell is a fast-growing Aerospace manufacturing business based in Hayes, Middlesex. Due to the current incumbent deciding to leave the business, we’re recruiting for a Business Development Director. This person is responsible for all aspects of developing new business opportunities for Attewell, both with existing customer and new customers, including: leading the development of the growth strategy and associated three-year order-intake budget, defining detailed business development plans and timelines, and executing these plans to deliver the budget, securing RFQs in a timely manner to support the budget, delivering quotations in response to RFQs on time and quality to customer requirements. The candidate will have relevant experience in strategy, sales, and commercial areas, ideally in an aerospace manufacturing environment. Main Responsibilities Lead the development the Growth Strategy, identifying market segments, customers, platforms, sub-systems to deliver profitable growth Annually, lead the development of the order-intake budget for the following 3-yr period – including an appropriate ‘portfolio’ risk-weighting approach that’s consistent with expected conversion-rates Develop detailed market-capture plans (with specific actions and timelines) to deliver the order-intake budget Lead the sales team (including, where necessary, the wider Group sales team) to deliver the order intake budget, whilst also delivering profitable growth in line with Attewell’s budget commitment Deliver RFQs to customers on time to achieve the order intake budget. Manage the Bid Management team to respond to RFQs on-time and to Quality, including integrating commercial/ technical/ quality/ supply chain aspects of complex bids and securing Group approvals in a timely manner Negotiation of LTAs for new business opportunities and effective handover of these new packages to the operations team Lead and develop the Sales and Bid Management teams, ensuring that the teams are engaged motivated and operating in accordance with KPIs agreed with wider stakeholders. Ensure good ‘standard-work’ principles are employed to drive pace and performance Operate effectively as part of the wider Attewell Leadership Team and the Avantus Group Business Development Team – contributing to the overall development of the Attewell business as a whole, and Avantus as a group. Experience required A relevant degree-level qualification At least five years experience in a relevant role A strong track record of defining and executing on growth strategies, budgets, market capture plans. Ability to work unsupervised in a rapidly growing organisation and respond quickly to requirements, prioritising effectively Outstanding negotiation skills and strong commercial acumen, ideally with strong working knowledge of commercial contracts and T&Cs Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data insights to drive improved outcomes for Attewell’s growth Strong proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems (ideally SAP) Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Demonstrated ability to influence at a senior level in our customer base, broader industry, within Attewell, and within the Group leadership team Proven track record in effectively managing a sales team or bid-management team Working hours This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.
