A little bit about us
The Land Transport Infrastructure Division (LTID) plays a key role in managing the Australian Government’s over $120 billion Infrastructure Investment Program (IIP). Our work connects and enriches every Australian community, underpins our economy and society, and empowers our regions. We provide strategic policy advice and deliver programs, projects and infrastructure that touch the lives of every Australian through the reduction of road trauma and by improving travel times and freight connectivity. Our work has a high profile, with high levels of engagement with our Ministers, their offices and central agencies.
You will be joining the Division at an exciting time as the Australian Government repositions its approach to infrastructure investment. The Australian Government, in collaboration with the state and territories, is embarking on a process of reform to support a more sustainable pipeline of investment and a productive construction sector.
The Division provides policy advice to Government and works closely with state and territory governments, and Infrastructure Australia, to support the delivery of nationally significant infrastructure projects that drive productivity and social development. LTID is comprised of the following branches:
* Victoria, Tasmania and SA Infrastructure Investment Branch;
* Budget, Policy and Assurance Branch;
* NSW & ACT Infrastructure Investment Branch;
* WA & NT Infrastructure Investment Branch;
* Infrastructure Investment Reform Branch; and
* RPM Taskforce.
The opportunity we have available
There are multiple Assistant Director opportunities available in the following Branches, managing the delivery of projects in the IIP across Australia, advise the Australian Government on future priorities and provide support towards the delivery of key venue infrastructure for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games:
* The Victoria, Tasmania and SA Infrastructure Investment Branch
* The NSW & ACT Infrastructure Investment Branch
* The WA & NT Infrastructure Investment Branch; and the
These branches support the management of the financials, risk and delivery of nationally significant infrastructure projects within the IIP across a particular state or territory, including projects such as:
What will you do?
The successful candidates at the EL1 level will have the opportunity to work in the program branches of the Division and will:
Support the Director with management of the financials, risk and delivery of nationally significant infrastructure projects within the IIP across a particular state or territory
Manage the assessment, preparation of advice and reporting on Australian Government existing and future infrastructure investments
Lead the undertaking of reviews of programs, and project governance meetings
Maintain productive working relationships with State, Territory, and Local Government counterparts
Provide secretariat support and input to State and Territory program meetings
Provide key program governance functions to LTID to support the delivery of the IIP
Develop briefing materials to support Ministers, Departmental Executive and Central agencies, including for Senate Estimates, Question Time Briefs and Question on Notice
Fact checking and development of media products such as media releases, talking points and event briefings.

Eligibility requirements
Employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:
Citizenship: candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of submitting your application.
Health Assessment: the preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the department’s preferred medical provider.
Security Clearance: the successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Level. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances.
