Site information HMP Thameside is a local category B resettlement prison in the Thamesmead area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, South-East London and is situated next to HMPs Belmarsh. Thameside is London's only private prison and can currently hold 1232 convicted and remand male prisoners. A new-build prison, successfully completed in March 2012, Serco has run the facility since it opened. The prison quickly and safely responds to the needs of the custodial population within the heart of London. What the role entails As a Functional Skills English Teacher, you will develop and deliver high quality, learner-focused education to meet contractual requirements and standards, in line with Novus policies and procedure; supporting learners and colleagues alike to ensure the best outcome for all who work within our sector. Specifically, you will deliver class-based Level 1 and Level 2 English, as well as some outreach 1:1 work with learners. To be effective in the role of Business Teacher, you will need to: Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months. (NB: applicants with appropriate skills and experience might be considered if they are committed to completing their teaching qualification within the first year of employment.) Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) Remuneration and Benefits Successful candidates will be offered a salary of between £29,047 to £38,124 per annum, plus FTE £5000 London Weighting Allowance payment, dependent on your level of qualifications and experience.
