The Underwriting department supports the Bank by assessing the risk of lending and protecting the Bank against this risk and losses. With strong market knowledge, a diagnostic approach and ability to give dependable decisions, the team take a common-sense approach to manual underwriting.

What you will be doing
In this role, you will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to all internal and external customers whilst maintaining quality with assessment of key underwriting and completions documents as well as driving pipeline chasing to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Providing a consistently high quality of customer service to both external and internal customers.
2. Ensuring that all enquiries and complex queries relating to Underwriting and Completions are dealt with promptly, efficiently and in accordance with the Bank’s service standards, policies and procedures and the UK Finance Mortgage Lenders Handbook for Conveyancers.
3. Assessing mortgage application documents in line with the Bank’s policy and standards.
4. Reviewing and agreeing property reports and if necessary, refer to Valuer and assessing the response.

In return for your commitment
We offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £22,000 - £24,000 and a competitive benefits package including:
5. Discretionary annual bonus opportunity of up to 12.5%.
6. 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
7. Contributory pension (8% employer 5% employee).
8. Life Assurance (4x salary) plus Group Income Protection.

10. Maternity & Adoption Leave – Occupational Maternity/Adoption Pay provided at 100% of salary for 26 weeks.
11. Paternity Leave – 8 weeks of paid Paternity Leave to be taken within the first 12 months of childbirth/adoption placements.

13. Previous primary servicing or collections experience is desirable.
14. Working knowledge of the mortgage product life cycle from application to completion is essential.
15. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.
16. GSCE/GCE qualifications in both Maths and English are essential.
