Job Description:
New Directions are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Support Companion to join our supply team, working in primary schools across Manchester. As a Support Buddy you will provide invaluable support to teachers and students, ensuring that children with diverse learning needs have access to a quality education. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about helping children thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities of an SEN Support Companion:
* Assist with the delivery of tailored learning activities to support students' individual needs.
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with learning difficulties or disabilities.
* Support the teacher in maintaining classroom discipline and creating a positive learning environment.
* Help children with tasks, activities, and materials to support their development.
* Foster a caring, supportive, and encouraging relationship with all students.
* Support with classroom organization, preparation, and general administration tasks.
* Help children with physical or emotional needs and assist with their personal care, if required.
Requirements:
* Experience working with children, ideally in a primary school setting, is preferred but not essential.
* Experience in a form of childcare is required.
* A strong desire to help children achieve their potential, with a compassionate and patient approach.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* A flexible and reliable attitude with the ability to adapt to different school environments.
