Pride in London is embracing a renewed sense of purpose that resonates with everyone. We stand as a beacon to highlight ongoing challenges within the LGBTQ+ community, even amidst progress. Our roots intertwine the protest origins of Pride with the spirit of celebration. Our guiding values – Visibility, Unity, and Equality – drive every step we take.
Our incredible team is a blend of passionate staff and volunteers who champion diversity, inclusivity, and understanding. We hail from diverse walks of life, forming a vibrant community of change-makers. Our ultimate goal? To amplify awareness of LGBTQ+ matters and advocate for the rights that ensure equal lives for all.
With a diverse and dedicated year-round team of around 150 volunteers, we orchestrate Pride in London, the incredible event that unites us all. Your unique voice can contribute to the symphony!

* This role has a flexible start time however we would be looking for someone who can start as soon as possible.
* Availability to volunteer on the day of the event (Saturday 5th July) is essential.
* This role carries an average volunteer time of 6 - 8 hours per week.
Your Role
In this hands-on role as the Deputy Director of People & Culture (People) at Pride in London, you'll champion our vibrant volunteer community. Your role is pivotal in nurturing our people, shaping our culture, and ensuring everyone in our organisation feels valued, supported, and empowered. You'll lead strategies that enhance the volunteer experience, foster inclusivity, and bring our organisation's values to life.
Your Responsibilities
* Develop people-centred strategies that resonate with our volunteer community, gaining support from all levels of the organisation.
* Manage our volunteer teams that oversee internal communications, wellbeing and recognition, ensuring a rewarding journey for everyone involved within Pride in London.
* Launch our new Volunteer Champions initiative, a team of individuals who will lead on recognising and championing the work of our volunteers.
* Be a go-to person for volunteer matters, creating an environment where volunteers can thrive and contribute meaningfully.
* Guide the evolution of Pride in London's culture, embedding our values in everything we do.
* Develop and champion initiatives that celebrate diversity and promote inclusion throughout our volunteer community.
* Prioritise volunteer well-being, considering physical, mental, and social aspects in your planning.
* Ensure accessibility and sustainability are key considerations in all our plans and activities.
* Lead and inspire those around you, fostering a supportive and motivated group.
* Deputise for the Director of People & Culture as required.
What You'll Bring To Pride In London
* Experience in leading and coordinating large groups of employees or volunteers (Essential).
* Strong understanding of volunteer management principles and best practices (Desirable).
* Proven track record in creating inclusive, diverse environments and implementing effective D&I initiatives (Essential).
* Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programmes for employees or volunteers (Desirable).
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation (Essential).
* A leadership style that inspires positive change and nurtures organisational culture (Essential).
* Strong knowledge of internal communications within a large organisation (Essential).
* Experience leading and implementing wellbeing initiatives (Desirable).
* Experience of volunteer and/or employee recognition initiatives (Desirable).
* Passion for Pride in London's mission and the LGBTQ+ community (Essential).
