If so, we’d love to hear from you About the Team The Sanctions and Illicit Finance team (SIF) is a friendly, busy, outward-facing team of c.30 people. We develop policies and legislation to address economic crime and illicit finance in the UK and overseas, to help protect the stability of the global financial system. The team is made up of six branches: Economic Crime Strategy Unit (ECSU), one of the team’s domestic-focused branches, which works with the Home Office, DBT, law enforcement and the private sector to deliver economic crime strategy. Anti-Money Laundering Unit (AMLU), which owns the Money Laundering Regulations and the supervisory system which oversee compliance with them. Sanctions and Counter Terrorist Financing branch, which works with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) and others to craft financial sanction regimes. Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and International branch. This branch leads our strategy towards, UK preparations for, and input into, meetings of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and leads work on tackling international illicit finance. FATF sets global anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing standards, and peer reviews countries against them. Technical Assistance Unit, which works with developing countries to assist their compliance with international standards on countering illicit finance. Mutual Evaluation Preparation Unit, which leads on preparing the UK for its next international assessment by the FATF. About the Job Key Accountabilities for this role include: Leading on the allocation of over £100 million of funding from the Economic Crime Levy to measures designed to tackle illicit finance. Building and maintaining constructive working relationships with colleagues across government to monitor and review the progress of Levy funded activities and collection. Preparing advice briefings for ministers and senior colleagues on the Levy, clearly articulating problems or areas for change and decision points. Acting as a key point of contact across government for all Levy related queries, including working with other departments to share best practice and expertise on the establishment and operation of a novel levy. Feeding into cross-government work to tackle illicit finance, including working closely with law enforcement and the National Crime Agency. Supporting the wider Sanctions and Illicit Finance team with preparations for the UK’s next Mutual Evaluation by the Financial Action Task Force, including helping to shape the narrative and reforms of the UK’s anti-money laundering regime. About You You will be able to get to grips with complex information or data and draw out key insights and risks, considering wider economic, political, or social factors to reach sound policy judgements. Work collaboratively across a range of stakeholders or organisations with differing objectives, and to build and leverage relationships to deliver outcomes and effectively communicate technical information concisely and clearly, and to effectively alter your communication styles based on the intended audience.
