Are you a compassionate Dietitian with experience of working with people with mental illness? Join Thornford Park as a Specialist Dietitian.
As a Specialist Dietitian you will support service users within the hospital’s secure mental health and learning disabilities services with a range of conditions working as part of a uni-professional and multi-professional team.
You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the dietetic service across the hospital, supporting the ongoing implementation of the Hospital’s Nutrition and Hydration Strategy; helping to enable people to make informed healthier choices more easily when it comes to eating and drinking.
With experience in managing a caseload using theoretical and practical experience, you will be involved in completing assessments, planning, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.
In this role you will have the opportunity to engage in clinical supervision and training as part of enhancing your skill set and development.

Initially this role will be 0.4 wte permanent role with support from the current lead dietitian.
As a Specialist Dietitian, you will be:
* Being involved and active in the development of a need led service.
* Providing dietetic clinical services both on an individual and group basis.
* Completing assessments, plan, implement intervention and evaluate outcomes as per individual service users care-pathway, enabling the service users in areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.
* Planning and implementing individual and group interventions collaboratively with patients.
* Evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.
* Maintaining accurate patient records, including care notes, written reports (as appropriate) following hospital and professional standards.
* Establishing effective communication with patients and their carers, all staff and other agencies.
* Implementing and developing evidence-based therapeutic activities to aid patient mental health recovery.
* Providing training and education will be a central part of this role.
* Maintaining and developing close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues.
* Providing a professional contribution to, and liaison with clinical teams, associated disciplines and external agencies.
To be successful in this role:
* Diploma or degree in Dietetics
* HCPC Registration
* Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 & CPA
* Experience of working in a similar setting

Where you will be working:
Location: Thornford Park, Crookham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8ET
You will work at Thornford Park which is a combination of medium secure and low secure units and rehabilitation flats. The service provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering patients in their recovery and rehabilitation. You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team to provide personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/ complex care needs as well as those with personality disorder. Service users may have histories of offending and/or may have failed in previous placements.
