As a Depot Manager, you'll be responsible leading and motivating the Depot teams to deliver safe, reliable and presentable trains in service every day, ensuring our customers stay connected and enjoy reliable journeys.
Your main responsibilities will be:
1. Be an inspirational people leader and collaborator accountable for motivating and leading people to develop a strong and inclusive work ethic.
2. Responsible for developing and delivering operational and people safety improvement workstreams to continually enhance the safety performance across the sites.
3. Accountable for setting depot budgets, managing profit and loss accounts and staff headcount.
4. Responsible for contributing to the business and Fleet functional long-term strategies and delivering these in alignment with SWR Purpose, Vision and Mission.
5. Accountable for managing competence, training and ISO accreditations.
6. Accountable for ensuring a consistent approach to right time departures (701A) from the depot as well as ensuring a proactive approach is taken for 701D performance issues, including wider engagement with stakeholders, such as train planning, where necessary.
7. Accountable for local Trade Union relationship management and representing SWR at meetings with third parties such as Network Rail and rolling stock leasing companies, and third-party maintainers as required.
8. Responsible and nominated as fire warden, fire precautions and legionella requirements are met.
9. Responsible for quality and compliance with the latest ISO standards.
10. Responsible to ensure monitoring of staff and processes are undertaken ensuring issues identified are resolved.
11. On an as required basis will need to investigate and undertake hearings for disciplinary or incident related situations.
12. You are accountable for developing operational and people safety improvement plans that continually deliver a demonstrable safety performance improvement and ensure all people and activity comply with the safety policy, functional safety requirements and procedures along with adherence to Health and Safety legislation.
You'll need:
13. To be able to effectively communicate, collaborate and inspire people to deliver the operational requirements of the depot safely and efficiently ensuring SWR customers can complete their journey as scheduled.
14. Manage six-figure budgets robustly.
15. A working knowledge of production and operational environments and the principles that require such facilities to operate safety and efficiency.
Working pattern
You will be working an average of 37 hours across 5 days per week, typically, 07:30 to 15:30 Monday to Friday.
Nightshift and weekend working will be required on an as needed basis to support the 24 hour seven day a week operation.
