The Pharmacy Technical Services Unit based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro currently have a vacancy for a Band 5 Senior Technician.
This post is also available as a development Band 4 to Band 5 Senior Pharmacy Technician post attracting a starting salary of £26,530 for newly or recently qualified technicians with a desire to develop in this very specialist area of pharmacy. Full training will be provided.
Working in our specialist facility, you will be part of a dedicated team preparing vital medicines for our patients. You will assist in the preparation of injectable medicines such as chemotherapy, radiopharmaceuticals, intravenous nutrition, and other life-saving therapies. This role will also include supporting the Lead Operations Technician in managing the Unit and the Lead Training Technician for the provision of supervision and training of other Technical Services staff.
Under the direction of the Lead Technicians, you will be responsible for the coordination of day-to-day activities associated with all aspects of pharmacy technical services in order to support the needs of patients and meet standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
As a validated dispenser, you will be responsible for the manufacture of a range of sterile products, support the manufacture of radiopharmaceutical products, and assist in providing a non-sterile manufacturing service. You will also provide direct supervision of a team of technicians and pharmacy assistants, ensuring services are provided in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
Having completed specialist PIPC (Pre- and In-Process Checking) and PAAP (Product Approval Accreditation Program) training, you will be responsible for checking and approving batches of medicines prepared under the Medicines Act 1968 Section 10 exemption for individual patients.
